Blow & Blast Workshops at Birnam Arts

Blow & Blast Workshops

We offer one-off woodwind ensemble workshops in Perthshire, specifically intended for adult learners or rusty 'returners' on flute, oboe, clarinet or bassoon. Our programme also now includes saxophone workshops and various light-hearted 'play-along' events that give late-starter brass or bowed string players access to the Blow & Blast experience too.

In 2022, we're planning a slight change in emphasis, to include a higher proportion of day courses. These should appeal to players who prefer the opportunity to prepare music in advance.

Blow & Blast workshops offer:

  • Music tailed to ability and confidence levels
  • Small group sizes with plenty of encouragement and individual attention
  • A relaxed and friendly atmosphere
  • Input from award-winning tutors who specialise in working with adult learners.

Each workshop is a free-standing event, so there is no pressure to commit to regular attendance.

Blow & Blast is also popular with those whose work, caring or family commitments prevent them from participating in a community band or orchestra.

For more information, email info@blowandblast.co.uk or telephone 01764 652052.

Films are shown at Birnam Arts, usually on the second & fourth Sundays of each month, starting at 7:30pm Doors open at 7:00pm and there is a bar and light refreshments available before each screening.

"The Field " Dunkeld at Birnam Arts

"The Field " Dunkeld

The Field in Dunkeld is a place to grow vegetables by the community, for the community, and lies a short walk from the centre of Dunkeld.

As a community, we grow our produce on a large scale rather than small allotments, allowing us to produce enough throughout the growing season and beyond for our two weekly market stalls, including Tuesday mornings outside Birnam Arts.

Importantly, we grow our vegetables according to organic principles, with no insecticides or artificial fertiliser, and all our seeds are organically sourced.

Annual membership runs from 1st February, supporting the ongoing costs and providing a 20% discount on produce.

Star Star Star Star Star

This is a lovely light and welcoming building with a cafe and library during the day and some really excellent concerts and shows of all genres mostly in the evening. It's an intimate space but with capacity for several hundred people and tends to be competitively priced. It relies on volunteer support and is an excellent community hub
