Arthur Coates & Kerran Cotterell are a powerhouse folk duo blending Scottish fiddle fire and English guitar gravitas with driving foot percussion, grooving basslines, soulful vocal harmonies and offbeat charm. Expect a two-man trad tornado with foot-stomping tunes, groove, wit and inventive arrangements.
Since meeting in 2018, Arthur and Kerran have grown from jam sessions into festival favourites across the UK and toured across Europe and North America, winning the Robinson Emerging Artist Showcase at Canada’s Goderich Celtic Roots Festival in 2025. FolkWorld praised their “world class fiddle tunes and songs”, while KCR FM called them “one of the best live acts I’ve ever seen.”
Controlled Burn is their latest live show, built around the album of the same name and favourites from earlier records. Bringing together original compositions with tunes and songs they have found in the wild, it has been carefully shaped as a complete evening, allowing different sides of their music to emerge as its pace and atmosphere shift. Filling the stage physically as well as sonically, Arthur and Kerran play off one another through strange stories, easy repartee and a streak of serious silliness. The result is a complete evening’s entertainment, keeping the whole room leaning in from first note to last. Music that smoulders, sparks, and occasionally catches fire.
