A talk by Visual Arts Development and Programme Manager Helen Reid and Photographer Jo Foo on 'Why Breastfeeding Matters in the Quest for Gender Equality', making reference to ‘Beyond Expectations’ exhibition. ‘Beyond Expectations’ exhibition presents Jo Foo’s latest body of work which documents breastfeeding/chestfeeding mothers who have nursed their children for longer than they thought they could, thus exploring society’s relationship with the female body, the role of contemporary motherhood and the politics of breastfeeding. This project is in association with Breast Buddies Breastfeeding Support Service (Run by Home-Start Perth & Kinross).
Jo Foo is a scientist, photographer and a mother of two young children. She has a passion for thought-provoking, mission driven projects. She loves using the art of visual storytelling to find ways to raise awareness of areas of social injustice and also connect people with nature.
