For more than 50 years, The Tayside Big Band has been bringing classic big band music to audiences across Scotland.
Led by local musician Andrew Mann, this 20-piece ensemble delivers everything from timeless swinging classics and jazz favourites to modern chart hits, with the occasional vocal number too!
Joined by guest vocalist Sheila Gaughan
Sheila Gaughan is a singer local to Dundee who hails from a musical family. Her grandfather was a violinist who led a big band in a Dundee dance hall for over 20 years during the 50s and 60s.
She sings full time with a variety of bands in and around Dundee but her preferred style is jazz and she has sung with a few Scottish big bands and local jazz bands in the past 20 years.
Whether you're a long-time jazz fan or simply love live music, The Tayside Big Band brings energy, entertainment and a bold sound to their performances.

The comfortable and aesthetically pleasing cafe seating attracted praise and provided ideal places for small groups to gather at the tables, enjoying excellent food and drinks! Visitors remarked upon your new signage, now so much easier to navigate to the various rooms within the venue.

Welcome to Birnam Arts, a boutique multi-purpose arts, conferencing and entertainment venue.
Pop in to the Foyer Cafe for breakfast, grab a delicious coffee with a selection of our homemade baking or enjoy a light lunch whilst browsing on the free WiFi. Wander upstairs to view the latest of our monthly art exhibitions before visiting the world of Beatrix Potter, or the Gift Shop to purchase a special gift for your loved ones or yourself!
This is a lovely light and welcoming building with a cafe and library during the day and some really excellent concerts and shows of all genres mostly in the evening. It's an intimate space but with capacity for several hundred people and tends to be competitively priced. It relies on volunteer support and is an excellent community hub.
