Memory Medals Workshop with Jack Ravi

Part of Reclaiming Shadows Exhibition

28 June 2025

This workshop honours the lives that have shaped us. Together we will create memory medals to celebrate our ancestors, whether we knew them or we simply feel their echoes. Using vintage photos, humble bottle caps, collage, fabric and found objects we will craft small meaningful tokens that honour everyday lives and untold stories. Each medal will carry the weight of memory and the joy of making together. no experience is necessary. All materials will be provided, but if you’d like to bring prints of family photos, you’re welcome to do so; otherwise, we’ll work with images of unknown ancestors.

 Exhibition Info   >

Jack Ravi is a collage and mixed media artist whose work explores the intersection of memory, nostalgia, and the power of found objects. Rooted in curiosity and wonder, his artistic process is a personal, meditative journey, driven by a profound emotional connection to the materials he uses.
In his art, Jack explores how memories shape our identities and how the objects that once held meaning can be reimagined to evoke new emotions. jack's work seeks deeper connections with the world, inviting to pause, look closer, and reconnect with our own memories and stories.
He also shares his process through workshops and retreats, fostering community and creative empowerment. His teaching style is rooted in mindfulness, offering a space for individuals to explore their own curiosity through book making and mixed media.

Jack is also the author of the bestselling book Artful Memories: How to Create Unique Art with Old Photographs.

He currently lives and works in Kinloch, Perthshire.

The Birnam Book Festival Committee were so pleased with how the new facilities in the Auditorium added to an extremely professionally presented event. The lighting allowed us to create staging to match the country’s leading book festival events, such as we’ve seen in Edinburgh.
