Spring 6 week block of pottery classes: Kiln Creative

20 April 2023

Spring 6 week block of pottery classes

£220.00

This class will take you from a ball of clay to a finished pottery piece over 6 Thursday mornings in Spring. You will try throwing on the potters wheel and hand building, attaching handles and glazing and decorating your work. The class is for beginners and intermediates alike. Try your hand at making a mug, bowl or vase. All materials are provided and the Birnam Arts Cafe will be on hand for coffees and cake afterwards.

Just come along with your ideas and inspiration and you will leave with some bonnie pottery as well as a new skill.

The classes will be on a Thursday Morning at Birnam Arts from 10:30am to 1:00pm starting on the 20th of April with the last session on the 25th of May.

The class is £220 plus £6/kg of clay used; most pots made as a beginner will be approximately £2/pot and you only pay for the clay you fire. This will be paid at the end of the class block.

After participating you will be welcome to join in with our pottery drop in sessions to continue your practice.

I have played at Birnam Arts as part of Blow and Blast for a number of years and never cease to be amazed by how many activities take place there - too valuable to lose!

We had not planned to present a hybrid festival, however that changed when one of our main authors tested positive for Covid. I greatly appreciated how the team worked with us to pivot and present remotely in part, making full use of your enhanced video conferencing equipment. As a result, we were able to deliver quite complex events with several elements all showing on screen simultaneously. The audio-visual quality was excellent, and our audiences were delighted that these events could still go ahead, in spite of Covid. The author in question was really pleased that he could join us on screen and remarked that he had not been so well supported in this way at any other festival.
