From Tom Opre, the director of The Last Keeper, comes The Real Yellowstone — a striking and intimate documentary that pulls back the curtain on life in America’s iconic wilderness.
Far from the glossy postcard image, this film delves into the lives of multi-generational ranching families who call Yellowstone home. As stewards of both livestock and wildlife, these families navigate a tense, shifting landscape shaped by soaring land prices, increasing predator conflicts, and a growing conservation movement determined to redefine the future of the American West.
Through breathtaking cinematography and honest, personal stories, The Real Yellowstone captures the raw beauty of the land and the complex realities faced by those who live closest to it. It’s a powerful exploration of identity, tradition, and survival in a place where nature and people have been entwined for generations.
We’re delighted to announce that director Tom Opre will be joining us in person for this special screening, taking part in an audience Q&A after the film. Don’t miss the chance to hear first-hand about the making of the documentary and the stories behind the lens.

Pop in to the Foyer Cafe for breakfast, grab a delicious coffee with a selection of our homemade baking or enjoy a light lunch whilst browsing on the free WiFi. Wander upstairs to view the latest of our monthly art exhibitions before visiting the world of Beatrix Potter, or the Gift Shop to purchase a special gift for your loved ones or yourself!
This is a lovely light and welcoming building with a cafe and library during the day and some really excellent concerts and shows of all genres mostly in the evening. It's an intimate space but with capacity for several hundred people and tends to be competitively priced. It relies on volunteer support and is an excellent community hub.
