DB Trad Youth

Dunkeld & Birnam Traditional Youth Music Group

Every Monday
From 16:00

Led by our experienced and professional trad musicians, our small group classes are for fiddle and piano-accordion, with a focus on traditional Scottish music. These classes are aimed at but not limited to beginners aged P5 – S6.

Dunkeld-Birnam Trad Group offers free weekly tuition and free instruments, We also run two band groups and welcome a variety of instruments to be involved. We encourage accordion, string, wind and brass players, guitarists, pianists and others suitable for trad music to join. Bands are for those who can already play at least a little, but, you don’t need to be able to play trad music, we will teach you.

If you would like to join DB Trad Group or would like more information, email dbtradgroup@gmail.com or call 07958 324 766

We also thank all of the local residents and groups who have generously donated support, money, and instruments.

We had not planned to present a hybrid festival, however that changed when one of our main authors tested positive for Covid. I greatly appreciated how the team worked with us to pivot and present remotely in part, making full use of your enhanced video conferencing equipment. As a result, we were able to deliver quite complex events with several elements all showing on screen simultaneously. The audio-visual quality was excellent, and our audiences were delighted that these events could still go ahead, in spite of Covid. The author in question was really pleased that he could join us on screen and remarked that he had not been so well supported in this way at any other festival.
