Vegetal Light: embodied photography

Booking closed.
Sat 5 Mar

From 10:00

Artist Rowan Lear leads a playful and experimental workshop in embodied photography.

Together, we will explore the woodland around Birnam and Dunkeld with cameras, taking inspiration from the multi-sensory world of plants, before steeping and making plant-based photographic developer and processing their films.

Description

Rowan Lear is an artist and writer, based in Glasgow. Rowan has exhibited in group and solo shows across the UK, Ireland and the USA, most recently a sudden branching at Birnam Arts in 2021.

In 2018, Rowan initiated Planetary Processing, a gathering of artists speculating on materiality and ecology, at The Photographer’s Gallery, London.

Since 2019, Rowan has been a seed librarian at Glasgow Seed Library, Centre for Contemporary Arts, cultivating and caring for a living repository of seeds and stories.

Star Star Star Star Star

I have enjoyed taking part in events such as Scots Opera before we came to live in the area. Since then we have enjoyed both attending events and the splendid cafe In the foyer. It is a brilliant example of a local/regional community arts initiative and must not be allowed to falter.
