11am-2pm
Drop into the Climate Café (Dunkeld Community Co-Working Space, Little Dunkeld) for a cuppa, and a browse through the Climate Café collection of must-read books and other information on climate change.

At 1pm, community historian Jane Anderson will be exploring a fascinating connection between Dunkeld and Canada, in her presentation on the book ‘The Foresters’ Scribe’ by Ursuala A. Kelly. The Foresters’ Scribe is the first comprehensive study of the Newfoundland Forestry Companies (NFC) of the First World War. It adds a long-overdue and essential chapter to the Great War history of Newfoundland and Labrador.

A century has gone by since the NFC was formed in 1917, yet little is known of this small unit of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment. Its members were men recruited for woods work in the United Kingdom. Their assignment: to cut and mill Scottish timber to supply wood for the war. ‘The Foresters’ Scribe’ book is available for sale at the Dunkeld Community Archive.

Live Poetry In The Corbenic Poetry Path Barn!

Join some of the poetry path poets (as well as chickens, ducks, swallows and other creatures) for an afternoon of live poetry, in the old poetry path barn.

This will be an opportunity to hear poets read or perform their own work in a setting that is rustic and atmospheric. It is also right beside the poetry path so a wander along the path can be enjoyed while you are here.

Event start time: 3pm

A minibus to the Poetry Path will leave Birnam Arts at 2.30pm, and will return after the event, around 4.30pm.
