Birnam Book Festival was created by the bookish folks at Birnam Arts and The Birnam Reader Bookshop to showcase literature from Scotland and beyond in our beautiful corner of Perthshire, nestled between the hills and the great River Tay.
The area already features strongly in literary history, inspiring writers from William Shakespeare and John Ruskin to Beatrix Potter, and the unique environment continues to attract a multitude of contemporary authors, poets, musicians and songwriters.
Our Festival is an inclusive event for all ages, where the audience can participate in workshops, lively discussions with authors or just sit back and listen to inspiring speakers or enjoy great music with a literary theme.
Birnam Book Festival is run by volunteers, for the benefit of the community and book lovers everywhere. A small committee of enthusiastic people from our local community provide time throughout the year on a voluntary basis to organise and manage the festival.
Unfortunately our lift is currently out of order. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. We are working hard to get it back up and running as soon as possible.
