Join exhibiting artist Sheila Roberts for a workshop showing you how to make beautiful prints using a humble pasta maker.
What you will learn:
- The different effects of drawing lines.
- How to create tone by cross hatching and removing larger surface areas to create solid colour.
- How to ink up the plate and wipe it down whilst keeping the ink in the lines.
- The importance of damping the paper and registering it over the plate to make an even print.
Workshop schedule:
- Introduction to Sheila and her work.
- Walk through exhibition to discuss printmaking and the intaglio technique of printmaking.
- Run through of the pasta maker printing process and what to expect.
- Drawing and tracing your designs before committing them to the Tetra Paks.
- Impressing your designs into the surface.
- Inking and wiping the plates.
- Printing with damp paper.
- Take your prints home to dry flat under a pile of books before titling and signing them.
