Ecology themed Zine Club! with Louisa Preston

Sun 22 Feb
13:00 - 15:00
Doors open 13:00

Have you heard of zines but never tried making one? Or are you a seasoned zine maker who wishes to come and make some zines in the company of others? Either way this Zine Club is for you!

Zine Club is your opportunity to come and make zines in a friendly, chatty environment for a couple of hours. This month there will be an ecology theme, linking the session to Jan Hendry’s exhibition. Louisa will be in the Birnam Arts gallery space with the materials you will need, ready to take you through some of the techniques that you can use to make a zine. A zine is a small-scale pamphlet or booklet that is not formally published but can be easily photocopied to distribute - if you like!

Zine Club is for adults and children aged 8+. Please note that anyone under 18yrs old must be accompanied by an adult, and the adult must stay with the child for the duration of the session.

Zine Club is a development of a research project being conducted by Louisa Preston, supported by the Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland. Louisa is an artist-publisher and researcher at the University of Stirling. Her research project aims to explore creative forms of publishing connected to arts organisations situated in remote and rural areas of Scotland. If you would like to learn more about Louisa's research and experimental art-publishing please visit her website: www.researchtown.uk

You can follow Louisa on Instagram @louisapreston_scribo where she will be posting outcomes of the research under the hashtag #art-publishing-ecosystems.

Zine club will take place in the Visual Arts Studio.

FREE entry! Just drop by! We'll be at the top of the stairs in the Gallery.

My alternative office, my morning cup of coffee, the place where we run our workshops, meet friends, come to concerts ... Without Birnam Arts our community would lose a bit of its soul.
