The MacIntosh Fiddlers of Inver - Saturday

Part of The MacIntosh Fiddlers of Inver

28 September 2024

In 1780 the first of the MacIntosh family arrived in Inver and for the next 200 years the family held a central place in the cultural and musical life of the Dunkeld area. They entertained local people and 'esteemed' visitors to the area, playing at dances and balls throughout Perthshire and beyond. In addition to playing, they taught and composed music and for three generations were precentors at Little Dunkeld Church.

 ‘A Place Fu O Fiddlers’

A new one act play, written and directed by Lesley Wilson, brings to life their journey. Performed by Anna Hepburn and Bob Davidson. Musical direction by Munro Gauld provides a soundscape of MacIntosh music played live throughout the production by Munro Gauld, Neil Baillie and Jennifer Knussen.

Immediately following the play, after a short interval, a concert will celebrate the music of the family, showcasing their legacy of tunes and songs.
