Macintosh Concerts

Sat 28 Sep - 29 Sep

Cleared from a Highland Glen in 1780 a young Charles MacIntosh found refuge in the village of Inver and for the next two hundred years the family held a central place in the cultural and musical life of the Dunkeld area. They entertained local people and 'esteemed' visitors, playing at dances and balls throughout Perthshire and beyond. In addition to playing, they taught and composed music and for three generations were Precentors at Little Dunkeld Kirk. James MacIntosh’s own fiddle, currently in the care of a local family, will play a central role throughout the event.

The event on the 28th and 29th of September includes:

Description

 ‘A Place Fu O Fiddlers’

A new one act play, written and directed by Lesley Wilson, brings to life their journey. Performed by Anna Hepburn and Bob Davidson. Musical direction by Munro Gauld provides a soundscape of MacIntosh music played live throughout the production by Munro Gauld, Neil Baillie and Jennifer Knussen.

Immediately following the play, after a short interval, a concert will celebrate the music of the family, showcasing their legacy of tunes and songs.
