Join us at Birnam Arts for a Birnam Book Festival extravaganza of poetry, spoken word, music and performance, hosted by Tim Turnbull.

Hosted by Tim Turnbull and featuring Alan Bissett, Andy Jackson, Jon Plunkett and local musicians, Gutenburgs.

Tim Turnbull has been performing his poetry, at home and abroad, for over twenty-five years. He has created stage shows, toured with slam teams, published in numerous anthologies and magazines, written supernatural fiction, and also paints and draws.

Alan Bissett is an accomplished novelist, playwright and performer. He is currently working on his fifth novel,The Coven and the Drowners, which he is hoping will be published sometime in 2023.

Andy Jackson is a Scottish poet and editor of several anthologies and web-based poetry projects, who was appointed as Makar to the Federation of Writers Scotland for 2017.

Jon Plunkett is a Perthshire poet. His work has appeared in numerous poetry journals, literary magazines and anthologies. Jon has also led the development of the Corbenic Poetry Path, ameandering trail through the Scottish Highlands near Dunkeld with poetry installations along theway. Jon has performed his poetry far and wide in poetry venues, distilleries, festivals, pubs, woods and Mongolian Yurts.

Gutenburgs invoke the enduring creative spirit of Steinbeck, Faulkner, Kerouac, Fitzgerald and many many more, as their songs invite listeners to engage with literary characters and their circumstance in a brand new way. Gutenbergs are Ali Mathieson (St. Christopher Medal) and Donny McElligott (SCM, New Madrids, Good Guy Hank).

Star Star Star Star Star

This is a lovely light and welcoming building with a cafe and library during the day and some really excellent concerts and shows of all genres mostly in the evening. It's an intimate space but with capacity for several hundred people and tends to be competitively priced. It relies on volunteer support and is an excellent community hub.
