What does Macbeth’s Scotland really look like? Is it dark, moody, and bloody - or something else

What does Macbeth’s Scotland really look like? Is it dark, moody, and bloody - or something else entirely? Drawing on production histories and archival research from the Shakespeare Memorial Library in Birmingham - the world's oldest and largest public-library Shakespeare collection - Dr. Toria Johnson, Associate Professor of Early Modern Literature at the University of Birmingham, shows how people have imagined Scotland in and through Shakespeare's Scottish play. Hear about the new Macbeth project in Birnam involving the school, the Community Archive and other groups.

Star Star Star Star Star

This is a lovely light and welcoming building with a cafe and library during the day and some really excellent concerts and shows of all genres mostly in the evening. It's an intimate space but with capacity for several hundred people and tends to be competitively priced. It relies on volunteer support and is an excellent community hub.
