Since our inception in 1880, the location of what is now Birnam Arts has been a place for the people who live in the area. The difference then to now is that are more mobile, so our sense of how far our community stretches has changed, and many of the needs and opportunities to support and celebrate our community have changed as well.
With families bringing their children to ballet, singing, theatre and visual arts classes from Pitlochry and Blairgowrie, and groups of friends meeting up for an evening out, travelling from Crieff and Perth – as well as Birnam and Dunkeld – we’ve simply had to expand our vision.
With this in mind, we work with many local community groups who have a mandate to support their local people. While the past couple of years has seen many things change, we continue to welcome these groups - and others - to use our facilities at a reduced rate, in line with one of our key goals.
MORE
The Birnam Book Festival Committee were so pleased with how the new facilities in the Auditorium added to an extremely professionally presented event. The lighting allowed us to create staging to match the country’s leading book festival events, such as we’ve seen in Edinburgh.
